Liposuction was sooooo invasive
Liposuction has come a long way from its first days in the 80s. Back then, when the procedure first came to the U.S. from Europe, it was quite invasive. Doctors had to move the larger cannulas back and forth quite aggressively under the skin to break loose the fat deposits before suctioning them away. The procedure caused a great deal of tissue trauma and subsequent bruising that would take weeks to fully resolve itself. Patients had to be under general anesthesia.
Since those days, liposuction has come a long way, but one of the latest improvements is Tickle Lipo. This is an FDA-approved procedure and Dr. Yates loves the results he gets with it.
What is Tickle Lipo?
In Tickle Lipo, the difference is in the cannula. Normal cannulas are simply suction tubes that the doctor moves back and forth to remove the fat cells. In Tickle Lipo the cannula has two movements — it vibrates and rotates. These movements help break up and loosen the fat. Plus, they have the side effect of making the patient laugh while the procedure is ongoing. The movement of the cannula causes this. This new cannula also helps Dr. Yates to avoid damaging adjacent blood vessels, which is the cause of bruising.
Dr. Yates feels that Tickle Lipo allows him to be very accurate with the fat removal. This is important to avoid removing too much fat, or removing fat unevenly in the target areas.
How is Tickle Lipo done?
Our patients have an easy liposuction experience with Tickle Lipo. They are very relaxed and can watch a movie, talk on the phone, listen to music, whatever. Because the cannula rotates and vibrates to break loose the fat, Dr. Yates doesn’t have to move it aggressively. This allows for easier recovery, with most patients returning to work in just a couple days.
