liposuctionRemember the crazed frenzy a few Christmases back when everyone just had to have a Tickle Me Elmo for his or her child? Well, thankfully Elmo has taken a seat and we can focus on a Tickle Me event that is actually beneficial – Tickle Lipo!

What is Tickle Lipo?

You’ve heard of liposuction. First introduced into the U.S. in the 1980s from France, liposuction involves making an incision on the skin of the target area, inserting a cannula, moving it around to break up the fat pockets, and then suctioning out the fat. The original liposuction procedure was pretty violent because the cannula had to be moved back and forth aggressively to break loose the fat cells. This created a good deal of tissue trauma, bleeding, and bruising, making for a more involved recovery.

Since then improvements such as tumescent liposuction have dramatically decreased the trauma, but there still is some.

With Tickle Lipo, the difference is in the cannula. In Tickle Lipo, the cannula Dr. Yates uses has two functions, in addition to acting as a vacuum for the fat cells. In Tickle Lipo the cannula vibrates and rotates to help break up and loosen the fat. A side benefit of these cannula movements is that Tickle Lipo actually creates a subtle tickling sensation, hence the name. The cannula motions also help Dr. Yates avoid damaging blood vessels in the area, which minimizes bruising. And it doesn’t use heat (as in laser-assisted or RF-assisted liposuction), so the skin cannot be damaged.

With the novel cannula used in Tickle Lipo, Dr. Yates is able to contour your target areas very accurately. This not only creates striking results, but it further reduces tissue trauma.

How Dr. Yates does Tickle Lipo

Tickle Lipo with Dr. Yates is a more relaxed procedure compared with most other liposuction procedures. Patients are very relaxed. Dr. Yates uses only local anesthesia, so patients can opt to watch movies, talk on the phone, or listen to music during the procedure. Plus, because it creates so much less tissue trauma, patients can usually return to work in just a couple of days.
