Nothing lasts forever…well, except the careers of some politicians. But in the aesthetic world, nothing lasts forever, particularly in the area of dermal fillers. Dermal fillers are ephemeral, lasting usually a few months before the body absorbs the filler and the results begin to recede.
But there is an exception, a five-year exception — Bellafill®. You read that right. Five years. Whoa. That’s longer than most Hollywood marriages!
Bellafill® is FDA-approved for the correction of nasolabial folds, colloquially known as smile lines, and the correction of moderate to severe atrophic, distensible facial acne scars on the cheeks. Dr. Yates loves the long-term results it provides
How does Bellafill® work?
Bellafill® works in two ways that basically encompass two stages. It has collagen in the filler, along with polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) microspheres. The first stage involves the collagen. Once injected, the collagen immediately adds volume to the skin to lift and fill smile lines and severe acne scarring.
The second, long-lasting secret to Bellafill® comes from the PMMA microspheres. Once injected along with the collagen, the PMMA microspheres remain in place and they create a matrix that supports new collagen production in your skin. So, in addition to the filling aspect from the injected collagen Bellafill® also stimulates your body to create new collagen, which rejuvenates and fills the skin for years.
How long does it last?
Bellafill® is the king when it comes to dermal filler endurance. The FDA has approved Bellafill® and verifies its results with acne scars and nasolabial folds for five years.
